There had been a series of fire incidents in Sabah lately, some even claimed a few lives. The first one was in Tmn. Penampang where a row of old shop lot was fazed by fire. I actually don't know how it started as i missed the next day newspaper. From what i heard, the fire started from cooking stove which was left without the fire being put off. At the time of fire razing the shop lot, two ill-fated children were bathing together in the bathroom. The father decided to save the children who were in the living then came back for those two but it was too late as the fire spread quickly and the smoke was too thick. He was not able to reach the children and even couldn't use the stair. In the end, he had to jump from the coridor to save himself and broke his leg.
Only a few days after that, the Pasar Am in Donggongon township was also destroyed in a early morning fire. No live was harm but around 60 hawkers had to shift their operation somewhere else. They were given permission to use the Tamu ground to run their business.
Then there was a fire case in Papar where a house was burnt down, claiming three young lives. A shop lot in Sinsuran was also razed. There was also a house razed by fire in Kota Belud with casualties reported. Wah so many fire incidents lately and it is scary where there were casualties in some cases. We should be extra careful when doing house chores. Monitor the children and don't let them play anything that could spark a fire. Make sure you don't forget to turn off the stove after meal is cooked. The safety of our home is in our hand.
